Troubleshooting Fergo JoystickMIDI: Common Issues and Fixes

Quick Start: Mapping Controls with Fergo JoystickMIDI in Your DAW

What you need

  • Fergo JoystickMIDI installed and running (creates MIDI from your gamepad/joystick).
  • A virtual MIDI loop driver (Windows: loopMIDI or LoopBe1; macOS: IAC Driver).
  • Your DAW configured to receive from that virtual MIDI port.
  • A controller (gamepad/joystick) connected.

Step-by-step setup (presets assumed: Windows + loopMIDI)

  1. Create virtual MIDI port

    • Open loopMIDI and add a new port (name e.g., “FergoLoop”).
  2. Start Fergo JoystickMIDI

    • Select your physical controller inside Fergo.
    • In Fergo’s MIDI output settings, choose the virtual port “FergoLoop” (or your loop driver).
  3. Configure DAW MIDI input

    • Open your DAW’s MIDI preferences and enable the same virtual port as an input.
    • Create or select a MIDI track or instrument that accepts CC or Note messages.
  4. Map a button to a MIDI Note

    • In Fergo: add a mapping for a button → set Message type = Note On/Off, choose Channel and Note number, set velocity.
    • In DAW: use the DAW’s MIDI learn for the target control (play/stop, trigger sample, toggle effect). Trigger the button to assign.
